23.Jul.2010 The 9 Best E-Books I Ever Bought

Have you ever bought an e-book?

Or thought about writing one?

These days, electronic products including e-books and e-courses have become extremely popular and are a great resource for bloggers and online marketers like myself.

Some e-books that I bought two years ago, I still refer back to on a weekly basis and they have become an invaluable reference tool for me and my small business.

An e-book, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary of English, is “an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a personal computer or hand-held device designed specifically for this purpose” – Wikipedia.

And I have been fortunate enough to sell a few e-books too. Most notably, my twitter e-book, 34 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started on Twitter which, I am happy to say, has been downloaded more than 3,200 times now.

So today I thought I would share with you the 9 best e-books I ever bought. The topics range from travel to photography to blogging and business growth and they are all great value with the prices of these e-books starting at just $5.95.

I have bought and read every one of these books and so I can personally recommend them.

Full Disclosure: If you click on any of these books and go through to buy one, I will receive a small commission – and if you are buying an e-book for $5.95 you KNOW i mean small commission. After reading and loving these e-books, I sought out the author to obtain commission when I sell them in the future – I am not just promoting these books because of the commission.

So here are the 9 best e-books I ever bought:

“Monetize Your Travel Blog”

“The ebook takes you through the whole process of blogging, SEO, and monetizing your website. There is information in the book for beginners as well as those with a little more knowledge.

The main meat of the ebook is in the SEO and monetization section. Each of these sections are a little bit over ten pages long. In the SEO section, I explain in detail what SEO is and how it works, what to do on your website and what to do off your website. I explain the value and power of links and, most importantly, I show you WHERE TO FIND HIGH QUALITY LINKS so you can rank higher in Google search results.

In the monetization section, I’ll go through each of the main ways to monetize your blog, how to price ads, and how to find and get advertisers to buy space on your website. Everyone wants to sell advertising but few people know where to find it. I help show you.”  -  Nomadic Matt.

Art of Solo Travel

“Turning 30 was an enigma for me. After achieving expected milestones – the steady partner, the career ladder, the coveted house behind the picket fence – I found myself in limbo.

All of a sudden I experienced a scattered sense of identity and started to rethink life. Unable to tolerate the rat-race and conform to society any longer, I quit my job as an architect, left the partner I was about to marry, sold the house I was working to pay for, and said goodbye to my friends and all that was familiar to embark on open-ended extended solo travel.

I left my entire life in Sydney in the hope that travel would reveal marvellous and meaningful experiences, and that I might be able to answer unanswerable questions for myself. The path was vague but like a rolling stone I wandered along and soon discovered that I was good at travelling on my own. I documented my adventures through three continents, 20 countries, and over 50 cities.

My journey tested me physically and mentally, but the experiences I gained – couchsurfing with 30 strangers all over Europe, crab-hunting in the Arabian Gulf, attending secret siestas with the Spanish, climbing an active South-East Asian volcano at dawn – will stay with me forever.”  -  Stephanie Lee.

SEO Secrets: The DIY Guide to Topping Google

“When you’ve read this book, you’ll know MORE about SEO than I did when I topped Google!

I knew next to nothing about search engine optimization (SEO) when I reached no.1 in the world for “copywriter”. Really! It sounds unbelievable, I know, but it’s true. And you’re about to find out how I managed it…

You see, back in 2003, I was struggling to keep my business afloat. I had a website, but nobody saw it. I had ads in the Yellow Pages, but I got only one call. And I had Google ads for a while, but I simply couldn’t afford to keep them. So the only work I had was sourced through cold-calls – more than 1000 of them in a year!

As you can imagine, there wasn’t much time for anything else. I could only just squeeze in the small amount of work I managed to win, never mind researching how to do things better. Then things got worse…”  -  Glenn Murray.

Travelling Europe

“Ready to head to Europe for the trip of a lifetime? Feeling unsure? Not enough money? Travelling Europe is the place to begin. Research better, travel smarter, spend less.

There’s really no reason you shouldn’t be chilling on a Greek island or getting your fill of history at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. With European Union money pouring into infrastructure improvements, there’s never been a better time to explore the Continent. And with the recent rise in low cost comparison websites it is easier than ever to find the cheapest airline tickets. You can easily go online, book a ticket and then be off in no time at all.

Between March 2006 and September 2008 we did just that: my wife and I spent two and half years travelling Europe, and visited 29 countries during that time. Since February 2007, Linda and I have been running the Indie Travel Podcast and this book is the culmination of all that research and travel.”  -  Craig Martin.
